The title really has nothing to do with this blog post - I just love that line by Jack Nicholson in "A Few Good Men" - great movie. I must have seen it 20 times. It's the kind of movie that when you can't sleep at 2:00am and you're channel surfing and find it - you have to watch the whole thing. But I digress - on with today's post....
I take my better half - the beautiful Krissy Rand (that's her very sexy left blue eye in the picture to the left) - to dinner last night at the Cheese Cake Factory. The CCF is a national restaurant chain in many major cities, known for their very large portions and in my opinion the largest menu in the history of the free world. There must be 150 items on their menu and that's not including the drinks. A really cool place to eat.
I've been there a few times but it was Krissy's first time. And it's a little overwhelming the first time you've been because the menu is so large - so large in fact that they sell advertising to other companies in their menu. The waitress comes over to greet us and take our drink order - a very polite and sweet young lady - and Kris is a little unsure of which Mojito she wants to order. So the first one she asks about the waitress says - "You don't want that - it tastes like gasoline!". Wow - that was pretty harsh - but it was honest. She helps Kris pick out the perfect one and off she goes and we continue to go through the 17 pages of menu.
The drinks don't make it to the table before she comes back to take our order. After spending 15 minutes reviewing the menu and talking about what looks good, Kris decides to eat smart and orders an Asian Chicken Salad. And our brutally honest waitress looks at her and says - "It's your first time here and you're going to order that??? It's probably the worst thing on the menu!!" How about that for honesty? I convince Kris to go ahead and splurge and get what she really wants and with the "Jack Nicholson" waitress's approval off she goes to put our order in. The food arrives and it was outstanding. We gave it two thumbs up. A great meal.
If you haven't noticed we've added a way for our Nation members to give us their feedback. Just click below and leave us your most honest waitress story and share it with the Nation. And if you want to know every time there is a new post, just subscribe to our RSS feed. Have a good weekend!
Cheers!
David
PS - Maybe the title really did tie into the story after all!!

I'm starting to think that Nfinity Nation has out grown itself. One would normally think of a nation as being limited geographically by water and mountains, but our Nfinity Nation truly knows no bounds. Tate and Grace just got back from vacation in Paris and check out the new locations that we spotted an Nfinity Nation card. Yes that is THE Eiffel Tower in Paris and yes that is THE original Mona Lisa. Looks kind of small doesn't it? I thought it was a lot bigger than that.

G'Day to you Mates!! David and Christianna have gotten back from the Down Under Spirit Championships in Gold Coast Australia. I haven't had a chance to talk to them in detail, but what little bit I've heard - I'm ready to go down under myself. The country was beautiful. The people were super friendly. The competition - while not up to American standards was very spirited. And the Cheer Moms were Cheer Mums. And the best part is - we've added a new member to the Nation - check him out below.
The project was successful. The goal was to determine whether or not American cheer products could be sold in Australia and the answer is YES!!. Some of us (Nfinity included) had some shipping issues. Our product was delayed - we learned a LOT about international shipping - but there was still a buzz about it. The other products did well and we learned a ton about that market down there. It is growing more rapidly than it is here in the USA. They love to cheer. And they love products from the US.
The country is full of young active people. They all play outdoor events - no matter what age they are. Are you ready for this???? The oldest competitor in the cheerleading competition was 46 years old!! That is not a misprint - 46 years old. The top two sports in Australia are Sport Aerobics and Net Ball. And if you haven't seen Net Ball you should check it out on Youtube. Very interesting sport.
I'll report more later when we get a debriefing from CK and David.
Cheers!

I guess by the picture below, our Nfinity Nation membership has grown to include our feathered friends. Take a look at the newest member of the Nation - Echo. This colorful little guy was on hand in the Cayman Islands last week, when our very own Caurie Duclo and Roger Schonder were vacationing down there. And the good news we are happy to report is that Roger and Caurie have made it official - they're engaged!! Caurie tells the Nation that it was a very romantic proposal - on the beach, in the evening, candle light and an absolutely beautiful ring. No word yet on a date, but stay tuned. More to come.
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. The weather here in Atlanta was perfect and the fireworks just keep getting better and better. The guys are back from Australia - hope to have some photos from Down Under soon. Tate and Grace just got back from vacation in Paris and have some great photos of that very romantic city also. Check back soon.
Cheers!

Where the hell did the year go? Can you believe that we are halfway through 2008? It seems like I was just getting over the hangover from News Year Eve. Is it just me or did anyone else think the year has flown by?
I think it's time to get out those New Year's Resolutions to see where you stand. Did you lose the weight that you wanted? Have you made the money that you thought you could? Are you going on that trip you said you would? And I know that you've quit smoking like you promised your self you would. Right?
The cheerleading season leaves us very little time to reflect on where we have been and more importantly where we are going. Our industry literally shuts down the week of July 4th and with the holiday on Friday this year I think now is a great time to turn the phone off, get out those goals, check and see where you are and what decisions you need to make to get it back on track.
We are our own worse critics - but at the same time we can also justify not taking any action very easily. So I suggest that you make an appointment with your self, give your self a first half grade and make a list of things that HAVE to be done to get back on track to make 2008 a great year.
And let's not forget the meaning of this great holiday. The US of A is the greatest nation on earth - no matter who becomes president - and we should all be grateful to be US citizens. Happy Fourth of July everyone!!
Cheers,
David |
